It was reported by Sina that Jian (Jay) Hu, (胡剑), managing director of Moody's US corporate asset securitization product rating department, joined The Chinese Finance Association (a/k/a " ", TCFA) in 1999 when he was studying for a doctorate at the University of Minnesota School of Business and that he once served as chairman of TCFA. TCFA has more than 40 long-term sponsors, including Bank of China and CICC ie . TCFA members hold important positions in Chinese and American institutions, some of whom work in the People's Bank of China, China Securities Regulatory Commission and other entities.
The activities of TCFA
From October 28 to November 1, 2010, a delegation jointly formed by the Beijing Financial Work Bureau and the Beijing Overseas Scholars Center went to New York to attend the 16th Annual Conference of TCFA. PRC institutions such as the China Securities Regulatory Commission, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, CICC, and CITIC Securities were also invited to attend the meeting. The delegation and the core members of TCFA had in-depth exchanges on common issues such as Sino-US financial cooperation, Beijing's financial industry development, and attracting overseas financial talents. At the special forum "Post-Global Crisis Recovery and Changes in Financial Structure: Opportunities and Challenges for China", Wang Hong, Director of the Beijing Financial Work Bureau and former employee of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, gave a keynote speech on the topic of "Building a Financial Center City with International Influence", and Yuan Fang, Director of the Beijing Overseas Scholars Center, explained the relevant policies of Beijing on the opportunities and challenges faced by overseas scholars in Beijing. In order to strengthen the connection between Beijing and overseas scholars, spread propaganda on Beijing's policies and entrepreneurial environment for introducing senior financial talents, encourage more overseas senior financial talents to come to Beijing for development, and strengthen the exchange and cooperation between Beijing and overseas Chinese talents, the Beijing Overseas Scholars Center and TCFA jointly signed the "Intention Agreement on Cooperation in Financial Talent Resource Development" at this meeting. The delegation also visited the China Institute in America to explore new models for further strengthening the in-depth cooperation between financial institutions in Beijing and New York. The Beijing Overseas Scholars Center is funded by the Beijing Municipal Government and managed by the Organization Department of the CCP Beijing Municipal Committee. Luo Wei, winner of the Best Paper Award at the 16th TCFA Annual Conference in 2010, served as an independent director of Tunghsu Azure Renewable Energy Co., Ltd. in 2020 when Wang Zhengjun, a CCP member who graduated from the Military Economics Academy of the PLA, was the secretary of the board of directors, financial director and deputy general manager of Tunghsu Azure Renewable Energy Co., Ltd., Li Quannian, former financial director of a subsidiary of China Dongfanghong Satellite Co., Ltd., former deputy general manager and general manager of the finance department of the parent company of China Dongfanghong Satellite Co., Ltd., served as a director of Tunghsu Azure Renewable Energy Co., Ltd.
Wu Hao, Chairman of TCFA, was a director of Shanghai Amarsoft Information & Technology Co., Ltd. Dai Genyou, former deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Anqing Branch of the People's Bank of China and former director of the Credit Information Center of the People's Bank of China, was an independent director of Shanghai Amarsoft Information & Technology Co., Ltd. in 2014.
Many senior members of TCFA attended the 2017CSF Annual Meeting held in Beijing from 24 to 26 April 2017. Yang Jichuan, General Manager of Huijin Branch of Sunshine Insurance Group, Bi Mingqiang, Partner of China Europe Fund and former CEO of ICBC USA (ICBC means the ) previously working for ICBC over two decades, Yan Yong, Managing Director of and former Managing Director of Bank Development Department of Fosun Group, and Jian (Jay) Hu, Managing Director of Moody's Ratings and a Director of China Securitization Forum(CSF), combined with their deep industry experience accumulated in domestic and overseas markets, made speeches. Maggie Jiang, current Chair of TCFA and Co-Chair of CSF Overseas Asset Securitization Policy Committee, Linjia Zhou, Managing Director of Zhihe Holdings, and Kristal Hou, former Chairman of the TCFA Board of Directors and Managing Director of Shanghai Alliance Financial Services Co.,Ltd, also attended the annual meeting. On 10th November 2019, the 25th annual conference of TCFA was held at the Marriott Hotel in Manhattan, New York. The annual meeting focused on four major themes, including the opportunities and challenges faced by foreign companies in financial industry in China, the opportunities and challenges faced by Chinese companies in the US market, the impact of Sino-US geopolitical relations on China's policy and the world economic and trade order, and the prospects of financial technology, artificial intelligence and big data. Craig Phillips, former adviser to Mnuchin (US Treasury Secretary during President Trump's first term), Jing-Dong Hua (华敬东), Vice President and Treasurer of the World Bank and Former employee of the Import Division of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Chemical Industry of Communist China(PRC), Russell Read, Head of International Client Business at Morgan Stanley, Li Deng, Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer of Citadel and a speaker in Peking University of PRC introduced by Zou Yuexian(邹月娴), a member of Chinese Communist Party(CCP), and Chen Xu, President and CEO of Bank of China USA, and dozens of other industry leaders from Chinese and American financial companies attended the speech. A total of more than a thousand financial professionals from the greater New York area attended the conference. During the conference, Craig Philips said that when it comes to issues involving Chinese companies investing in the United States, the government should not interfere with the flow of private funds, and if the United States formulates restrictive policies on Chinese company stocks and China formulates restrictive policies on U.S. bonds, it will undoubtedly trigger a huge crisis between the two sides. In the conference, Henry Mo ("莫恒勇" or Heng-Yong Mo), expert lecturer of Insurance Asset Management Association of China, visiting researcher of Beijing Insurance Research Institute, senior consultant of CFA program of School of Finance of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in PRC, former director and senior global and US economic analyst of Credit Suisse and former research assistant of National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and current chief economist of AIG, became new President of TCFA.
