2022 Healthy Life Trajectory Program Collaborative Research Project Guidelines of NSFC and Canadian Institutes of Health Research Institute

2022年度国家自然科学基金委员会与加拿大卫生研究院健康生命轨迹计划合作研究项目指南

According to the bilateral cooperation agreement between the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), in 2022, it is planned to jointly fund the epidemiological cohort research project of non-communicable diseases, and encourage and support scientists from both sides to target the risk factors of non-communicable diseases, Collaborate on the Healthy Life Trajectory Initiative (HeLTI) research based on the concept of developmental origins of health and disease.

  1. Project Description

In 2016, China and Canada cooperated to carry out the HeLTI study with the purpose of exploring relevant evidence for improving health and preventing non-communicable diseases, focusing on the pathogenesis and risk factors of obesity, cardiovascular disease and diabetes throughout the life cycle. Given that the health problems of both parents can have intergenerational effects on the healthy growth of their children, this project aims to study the scientific evidence that gender factors correspond to life-cycle-related diseases, so as to conduct effective interventions and formulate relevant policies. Given the importance, long-term nature and particularity of cohort studies, China and Canada intend to promote the exchange of scientific ideas, share expertise, and support multi-level, multi-disciplinary research and policy from basic science to public health through continued support in this field. method, and prioritizing support for international collaborative research that has a sound collaborative foundation and cohort base, aiming to have a profound impact on global health.

  (1) Funding areas

Interventions involving a continuum of interventions from pre-pregnancy to pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood must include the following:

  1. Research on obesity, fat deposition and metabolic markers associated with reducing the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, diabetes and other non-communicable diseases.

  2. Research on obesity, fat deposition and metabolic indicators, in addition to this, may also involve interventions with other risk factors associated with non-communicable diseases.
